Things are not going as planned so it’s time to improvise. This whole “urban lifestyle” is not working for me. So instead of sitting here and complaining for the next year, I am going to start looking for places to move.
I hardly get any sleep because every night there is some sort of commotion outside. Alarms going off every five minutes, people screaming like damn fools at 3am, noises that sound very similar to guns (Mr. said it was firecrackers) scaring the crap out of me. Plus there’s the constant paranoia that someone is going to steal my car or break in here and kill me.
It’s time for me to move
But since it’s not just about me anymore, sadly I can’t rush back to Michigan. So I need to find a very suburban place to live that’s close enough to DC for the Mr. to get back and fourth to work via the Metro. I’ll start looking in Maryland but I don’t know what cities in Maryland are close to DC. So someone please drop me a line and help me out.
Thanks.

Laurel, Gambrills, and Bowie are just a stones throw up 295. Some areas are more sketchy than others, but there are deals to be had on property.
Thanks for the suggestions. I’ll look into the ones that are the least sketchy.
you can also try Rockville, Giathersburg (better metro access) or germantown. they are on the red metro line. it also depends on whether you are looking to rent or own…
there are also other areas in DC that are quieter that you might want to take a look at
Quieter in DC probably equals an arm and two legs…but I will look into the areas you suggested. I don’t want to buy a house in this area; I’d rather wait until I can move somewhere else.
If you really want safe and quiet in DC you should check out the glover park area. I just moved to glover park last week from Minneapolis and you can hear a pin drop it’s so quiet. It’s a little too quiet to me, but to each his own.
