If You Hate DC Then Stop This Blog

Someone sent this question to All Diva Media about this blog. Since I’m the writer, I feel I should answer it.

Q: Why do you have a blog named “Diva in DC” about a woman who doesn’t appreciate all that the city has to offer? Maybe “Disgruntled/ Discontent/ Despondent Diva in DC” may be more fitting? I do appreciate her outlook - some people just prefer suburban life to city life - but I was hoping to find a Diva who flitted her way around the city discovering all the new hot spots, appreciated museums, critiqued restaurants, and was generally positive about her environment.

A: You make a good point, but I’m not going to be positive about an environment that’s not positive. When my day is filled with problems with my utilities, car alarms going off at all hours of the night, strange men banging on my door, and a ghetto neighborhood; I’m not going to write about how pretty the roses are outside. I can’t write about a life I don’t live.

However in all fairness everything I write is not a complaint, and the majority of the content is about restaurants I’ve been to in DC and the surrounding areas. Now if the whyireallyhatelivingindc.jpgrestaurant has a major service problem, that’s not my fault. I present both the pros and the cons.

I am certainly not the only person who has a slight bias against this city. Though I do acknowledge that this blog shows up in the top 10 in Google for I hate dc.

But let’s face it, someone has to tell it like it is. I assume DC is not called the murder capital due to the quality of the museums that are offered.

If you want to read about why you should tour dc, then read Jon’s DC Traveler. If you want to read about why DC may not be the ideal living situation then here’s the place you need to be.

By the way, that image is not a gross exaggeration. That whole “cost of living” thing can really kick you in the butt.
